I LOVE THIS PLACE!!! Where else can someone get the idea of a 300lb plant for their office?!?!?! Although I seriously considered it, I think that might be hard to explain why I work in a forest! haha!
All fantastic ideas though! Especially antelope dendrobiums, I have never seen one before. AWESOME! Definitely going on my wish list!

As far as the office, it will be pretty low light...middle of downtown and faces another building so not the greatest conditions. And temp does stay pretty consistent during work hours BUT they shut off the air on weekends (makes for a terrible weekend catchup work time!) and it can get pretty hot/cold depending on the season...livable, but still it swings quite a bit...

Sobrailia decora! I have one that is 4 feet tall and 3 feed across growing out of a 14 inch pot. It makes an interesting foliage plant when not in bloom. Adapts well to lower light and lower humidity conditions. Is fragrant when in bloom. Downside, blooms last 12 hours. But on a big enough plant you may always have some blooms on it if the season is right.

I think it's great that folks here have made so many suggestions - having no idea what the temperature, humidity, and light conditions are in the location.

Eyebabe hit it perfectly.

Or scrap the whole big plant idea completely and instead put a large lighted terrarium with mini orchids and other plants.........(would need to know just how hot and cold over those weekends we're talking about but......)

It might be more interesting to rotate in the blooming orchids from home, that way you will always have something to please the eye!
Also, there may be florists in your area that provide blooming orchids, they will deliver new blooming orchids on a regular basis...

I'll roll along with Paul on this one..... I think a well done terrarium would be a better conversion piece. And you would not have to worry about watering a big old monster in your office! I'm sure you'll get moved back to your old desk if you flood the floor!!!!! LOL
