My project for today then is to repot, since it is actively putting out new roots. Want to get it done before the gray days of Michigan winters set in. I'll just be really careful with the spike. I feel like a proud orchid mom, having a phal. happy enough to flower and keiki. Plus, just waiting to see what it does next. I feel a bulge at a lower node, hmmm.

You should! It's amazing, and your chid is happy! Plus you have a baby on the way!

A little tip though, if you decide to leave the keiki on to grow longer roots, more than I'd say about 4-5 inches, it may be a little difficult to coax the roots into a pot. But it's easily fixed with a deeper pot.

I'm glad I repotted. There were more roots in there than I thought. I could only see the ones circling the outside of the pot. The phal. pulled a "I'll come out peacefully but I won't go back in without a fight" when I thought about putting it back in the same pot. Glad I had larger pots on hand. Good news, I only had to remove one dead root. The keiki seems to be getting bigger, too.
