50-55 is a bit low for Phals, that's already out of their comfort zone. I personally would bring those in.

Yes, Keithrs is right about the wet and cold. Not a good combination. If it's been raining or will rain, for sure bring them in.

Also, any plant that I have which is struggling is automatically brought into a more controlled environment, a.k.a. indoors. They need as little change and stress as possible, including sometimes reduced lighting, until they get their feet (roots) on the ground again.

I agree with camille as well that 50 to 55 is a bit low for phals, but I have done it successfully for years now. Again, 55 as a low is just a general recommendation that I found from the AOS culture sheets. This is, of course, dependant upon the species or particular parentage of your phal.

The temps will be back to normal Sunday. YAY! I think I might just bring everybody in before the sun goes down tonight. I'd be devastated if I lost any to something I can stop.

Paranoia pays off again. It has started raining, not hard, but enough that my mounts would have gotten wet. I KNOW 50 is too cold for wet orchids to overnight.

Yup. I left mine out this year when the temp's dropped to 48 but I didn't realize it was going to rain. Many of them have a few yellow leaves now. Wish I had known it was going to rain. It's always better safe than sorry in my book, lol...

I have so many plants that I have to begin bringing them in early so I can organize them and find a place for them...if I can find a place for them. I ended up giving away a bunch of orchids and will only be buying miniatures now, really tiny miniatures, so I never have to make painful choices again.
To find out what temps various orchids can tolerate, you can check out some Florida sites that talk about orchids and temperatures. They seem to have the best data. I don't know which sites I used this spring, but I didn't lose any when I put the ones out said to tolerate forty-degree temps.

you kind of can check the monthly forecast here. I think also it may vary whether you are in a urban setting or in the countryside or houses with space in between. Walls accumulate heat during the day etc etc.
