Default show me your roots!

so i was at a friends GH the other day, and he has an amazing collection and two greenhouses. of, and a few AOS's too!

anyways. i was there and in his GH he has plants that just have massive amounts of roots. sprawling and hanging all over. especially on some cattleyas in hanging baskets. the plant is 6+ feet off the floor and roots dangle and touch the ground! and not just one or two, i mean like 80! its literally a curtain of roots! so crazy! and multiple plants too! it almost hard to walk thorugh with all the roots!

so lets see pics of your guys's crazy roots!

These are probably not as "crazy" as the ones you saw, but when my sedirea japonica arrived my thought was - what a cute little plant with crazy roots:

And now she is putting out five more brand new ones at the same time:

it's like she only knows how to grow the roots

I discovered this when I unpotted a Zygo a few years ago - I honestly don't know how all those roots fit into that pot!

The most impressive set of roots I have seen in person harkens back long ago to my university days. One of the greenhouses on campus was open year round for the students to walk through or sit and read. (Unfortunately it was on the complete opposite end of campus from my dorm so I did not get there often.) Anyway, there was a vanda suspended about 4 or 5ft over a koi pond. The roots had grown down into the koi pond and 2 or 3 ft over the bottom. And conventional wisdom says vandas don't like constantly wet roots. LOL!

One of my catts during repotting. It's now in a 6.5" pot and is filling that one up too.
