Camille - Chryss is correct, I know George Hausermann who made the cross, I just asked him and he said Phaiocalanthe Kryptonite 'Red Streak' is his cross which is (Calanthe Rozel X Phaius tankervilleae). He also said that he has seen his cross referred to as just 'Red Streak' which is a misnomer.

Bud - Phaiocalanthe Kryptonite was registered in 2000, there are many clonal names. The awarded ones are:
Chariots of Fire
Wickford
Parkside
Red Baron
Frangois de Caribe
Ameer *
Polar Cap *
Leatha's Dream
Miami Heat *
Ursula *
Blood Bath *
Jorel *
EFG Orchids *
The ones with the * are all those that the original hybridizer got awarded.
There are also plants with clonal names that have not won awards 'Red Streak' is one of them as is mine which is 'Glen's Snow Ball'

I think where the confusion comes from is that, crosses are registered but clonal names are not. The only record of clonal names are those plants that have been awarded. A plant that is awarded by the AOS MUST have a clonal name. Anyone who has a seed grown plant can give it a clonal name. I do that with plants that I divide and give away divisions of, so that if the plant is eventually awarded, the divisions will carry the award also, not only that but if you don't identify the divisions as being part of another plant, there is the possiblity of both plants being awarded and having 2 different clonal names which just mucks up the records.

Smitha, since you live in the Boston area, you might want to consider attending a Mass Orchid Society meeting, if you haven't already. I have found this group to be very helpful and knowledgeable.
The next meeting is this Tuesday at 7pm. PM me if you would like further info.
