Default new growth on phal

I have 2 phals whose growth is confusing me...
1. The 1st phal had a spike when I bought them..After the flowers died, the plant started growing new leaves say around 4 of them one after the other. Then it had a new growth which looked like a spike to me..After sometime when the growth started getting bigger,it looks more like another set of leaves..What kind of growth is this??
2. The second phal had no roots..So I cleaned it up & did the "sphag n bag" method..I did not have any rooting harmone ,so I din't use any..After 2 months, when I see the bag I can see a new leaf growing..There r no sign of new roots..My question is what should i do with this phal??
If I should use a rooting harmone, which one should I use??Should I repot this fellow??
The first 3 photos r from the 1st phal & the last 2 r from the 2nd phal..
Thank u in advance..

On your first phal, it appears as though you're growing a keiki, which is a baby plant! On the second, new leaf growth is good - several of the phals on which I had to use the sphag and bag method grew new leaves before roots. Be patient, and keep giving them care and warmth - any growth is much better than seeing a phal die.

whatever youre doing is good...you made the first phal grow leaves and a baby..the second phal is surviving...Ms T is right; keep giving it the care you are doing...new roots will come soon but dont do anything drastic unless you see some roots coming out of the plant and then you can pot it...
