I had them inside, and then noticed this... infestation, and quickly moved the infested ones back outside after soaking them heavily. I will soak them heavily over the next few waterings! I wouldn't mind so much if I wasn't growning indoors. Thank you!

That should do the trick. Maybe other folks have some suggestions for you, too. I wish there were a "magic bullet" for the ant problem, but I'm so concerned about using toxic chemicals in and around my home that this is what I will likely continue to do.

I usually completely submerge my plants in a laundry tub, leaves and all, overnight, if I find ants living in the pot. Terro (a widely available trap that contains Borax, sugar and water) helps to clean up any loose ants. Take care to have nothing around that would entice them to stay. They won't cross a thick line of dishwashing liquid. If you grow herbs, they don't like wormwood. We get ants every spring and getting them to die or leave quickly is ever my goal. Good luck!

I use Orange Guard, spray everywhere on the plant, leave for 5 - 10 minutes then wash out ALL the corpses !!! I do mean ALL of them, it wipes them all out without hurting the plant or the ecology ! They rarely ever come back to that plant !

It doesn't hurt the plant to submerge it completely overnight?

I had heard of Orange peels at the base of the plant, I will look for orange gaurd too.

wow huge plants! i wouldnt worry too much about transitioning them. i grow uner t12s ATM, and when i buy new ones they go straight in. just keep and eye on them. id be worried most about the humidity levels.

do you have pics of your planted tanks? i am obsessed with them as well!

Oh, wow, Yeah, I have to take new pics, and I need to do water changes and a little bit of "mowing" and pruning!! I'll try to get some pics done soon though, I have been spending time trying to get my indoor 'chid set up put together, and have just sort of been letting the tanks GROW! Not a bad thing, but for the most part, they look VERY shaggy. and I had an algea outbreak last week in my 55 gallon, so it's lookin Real Rough! I love anything green... Plants of all kinds, terrestrial, submerged, and Arial! haha! My Daddy tought me to "smell the roses" so to speak....

OH! God Bless Tweezers!!! HAHAHA!!!

I added Co2 to my 55 and had a bloom in there... it's just a hot mess. I obviously have to tweak my diffuser. *sigh*

Nice to see another aquaholic around!
