Which should I choose? Psychopsis or Vanda
I will be expanding my ever growing collection of Orchids at the end of the month and I have my eye on either a Vanda Tricolor or a Psychopsis Mariposa. I find them both beautiful and I would love to own both eventually but at the moment I can't afford to. So, do I go for the vanda in a glass ideally (although I think that I would have to repot it into a glass) or the Psychopsis? Which one would be easier to care for? I am leaning towards the Psychopsis because I just like the look of it. I like the fact that a healthy one will give you flower after flower all year for years to come!! But then, I have heard that they can be hard work also. The Vanda does scare me a bit because I won't be able to put it outside due to living in a tower block and also I just don't know if they really are easy to care for. So if anybody has any advice please feel free to enlighten me as to which one would be the most suitable and the easiest to look after for a beginner. Thanks in advance.

Neat thing about the Psychopsis is that once it gets going, it's a sequential bloomer. So if you want something that blooms a fair bit for some time, I'd go with the Psychopsis. Still vandas grown under the right conditions can bloom twice per year

Thanks bellini. I kind of think that I will go with the psychopsis but I'll wait for a few more replies. I do like it a lot though.

My psychopsis has been a joy once the blooms finally started. I posted on it about 3-4 months ago, and right after the bloom fell, another took it's place about 2 weeks later. They also don't require the high light that vandas can

Thanks Zxyqu. I will take this into consideration. Looking like the psychopsis is going to get the majority vote. That's good.

Vandacious plants are easy to grow(water -sun-fertilizer; thern just let it be)...they have summer draught in the tropics & moonsoon rains arrive and they get drenched with lots of wayer( I am in the eastcoast of the US so I do the opposite: I water more in summer where the other part of the world it came from has monsoon rains and in winter in NY it gets lesser water)...it also needs fertilizer weakly weekly
if you are up to it...then go for the vanda!

Thanks for the info Bud. I just don't know whether I would be able to properly care for a vanda it is such a special orchid in terms of care that I just don't know. I really wanted one until I thought bout getting a Psychopsis instead. But I will think it over I still have got about a week left so there is no rush. Oh gosh, I really want them both! maybe I'll toss for it
