Growing orchids in horsemanure
I am not sure if this is the correct area to post this, but this website link was sent to the yahoo orchid group.I found it interesting so I thought I would share it, although I do not plan on trying it.

It's an interesting topic. Personally I have never used it, but I can't imagine it being a good material to use on its own, though as an additive it may be useful for some terrestrials. Nic's success is intriguing, though.

Very interesting, I might sacrafice a phal seedling I got from ebay, 2 for $1.00. I like stepping out of the box

Thats the guy! I bought 3 and received 6 only 4 survived. I mounted 4 directly on an avocado tree 3 are doing great, new growth and roots and 2 in pots which 1 is doing great, thats the one I might try!

man, i would be careful where you get the manure...i have owned show horses before and many different horse people use additives to their feed which may pass "interesting" "nutrients" on in the manure...just fyi... man, horses EAT $!!! hmm, kinda like 'chids...

Orchids in there natural habitat don't get this richness in there natural feeding. Horse poop is pretty much ranked with cow poop which is mainly used as a strong nutrient to enrich sandy soil.
Nothing to loose flhiker and time will tell for a possible gain...why not give it a try...watch out for the stinch

I thought of that. It will live outside and it only has 50% manure on bottom of pot and top it with 50% spag. moss. Hopefully there will be no smell. Supposedly you never need to fertilize and no salt build up
