Default Blooms finally opened!

just wanted to share my catt finally opened and they do smell soo nice!!

Catt. Chocolate Drop x Summerland Girl

Lc. Sagarik Wax

I also have a question it is potted really tightly in sphagg right now, can I re-pot into bark when blooming is finshed. I already see new root growth will it be too late in season? I can post a pick of the roots if needed. Thanks!

Wow, very nice. I'm not to sure about your question though. I have bought orchids in pots, in bloom and then mounted them after wards with no issues.

Congratulations on your beautiful blooms. I hesitate to make suggestions about repotting because our climates and growing seasons are so different. Perhaps someone from your growing zone will chime in.

woo hoo! congrats!

I always repot new plants (after blooming, if they were), regardless of time of year. Never had any problems, and I'd really rather not have a plant sitting in possibly very old sphag for several more months.

Just my experience with repotting, anyway - I think at worst, you may slow growth (plant 'pouts') after repot - can't say I have noticed this, but could be happening, and I just haven't noticed To me, slow growth is preferable than possibly having the plant in old, broken down media ...

Seems new growth usually starts not too long after blooms are done, so I don't think you need to worry about being too late in the season

mattryan - I totally agree with WhiteRabbit, go ahead and repot it. The fact that it is in sphagnum is actually in your favor, you won't be disturbing the roots as much as you be if it were in bark. I assume you are growing indoors, so your growing season will be prolonged enough to have the new growth settle into the new medium.

Nice flower by the way. Happy repotting.

Thanks for the advice everyone. I will go ahead and repot as soon as flowers drop.
