Default tree fern and phals?

Can I mount phals onto tree fern? I am not sure due to the width of these roots? I am growing outdoors in FL so humidity will not be an issue.

Yes but you'll have to water often, especially during summer. Initially you might need to boost the humidity in spite of the environment. This can be easily accomplished by temporarily draping a little spanish moss or coco husk fiber around the mount or basket. The extras can be removed once the phal sends out new roots and adjusts.

I would suggest ecoweb. It is like tree fern but has fiber space for thick roots. I have 2 phals. One is one cork and the other is on a piece of wood. Both of them have moss at the roots. My next mounts will be with the ecoweb.

I would also recommend ecoweb (Epiweb in Europe)

It's a great treefern substitute and because it's made of recycled material it's better environmentally than treefern which is endangered.
