Just a few orchids that I have had the pleasure to take ownership of during the last few months. The Phrag is a mont fallu which I'm hoping will flower for me at some point in my life

Thanks RosieC
That was one that screamed out to me to buy it because I have been on the look out for a deep yellow phal for ages. The colour doesn't really come through on these pics but it's more like the colour of butter. I thought it would add more depth to the phal grouping that I have growing in my south west facing bedroom. Get yourself to Sainsburys if you fancy one too!

they have some great ones just now. Our Sainsburys recently had a new batch. I actually have one similar already... I've stopped buying from Sainsburys not because I don't like then, but because I have most Phal colours they sell. Not always exactly the same but similar enough to actually be able to walk past them I didn't used to be able to walk past without buying one at all I still have a check every time!

I used to think I was the only one like that but now I know I'm normal . I can never resist 'just looking' that's all it is, just checking to make sure that they're alright and not in need of imminent rescue . I have found that the supermarkets aren't very adventurous, it's always Phals or occasionally Miltonopsis. When I was in Homebase yesterday they had many different types of Orchids in a beautiful colourful display. I was watching people walk in the store and they were all drawn to the pretty colours of the blooms. They would stand and stare maybe pick one up and then slowly walk away again. They are hypnotic aren't they? I'm waiting for a cheap Vanda but they don't seem to be in any stores at all. Oh well

No, never seen Vanda's in local stores. I had one I got at a nursery (unfortunately I killed it) and I think I will go back there for another one at some point.

Well I have priced some out from Burnham Nurseries but what with posting and that it would set me back about £40 so I'm waiting for a while to see if they make an apperance in the stores - doubtful I know. I just got a Pharg from Burnham and it is of flowering size. I have just left it in the rockwool as it seems quite happy there. I don't want to repot incase I disturb it but if the roots get too soggy I will repot it ASAP!

What a lovely bunch of orchids! I really like the 2nd and last picture. Nice oncidium type in the last one.

I got my Vanda from Burnham when visiting them on my way back from Cornwall. I've also bought from them at shows.

Phags are happy a bit damper than some orchids. Which is why Burnham sell them in rockwool. I've heard some people say they always have a little water in the bottom. I don't dare do that, but I do try and keep them moist. One of mine is in S/H so that one IS kept with water all the time and seems to do well (not rebloomed yet but growing really well).

Sorry about the delay in getting back to you I wasn't notified. Yeah I actually come from the South West and Burnham is about an hour away from my sister's place. I have bought a couple of things from them but so far I've never mangaed to get anything to flower. I used to have many orchids back about ten years ago but I got tired with all of the care and they got some fungal infection a few years ago so I just chucked them all out. I thought that I could live without them but two and a half years later I currently have nine - and counting!
