Orchid roots shriveling? Male
Arrow Orchid roots shriveling?

Ok. I have a previous thread on this same topic, but couldn't find it readily. Here is my question. I have a phal that is in bark/coco husks, it is in a clear pot. There is condensation on the side of the pot on the inside. My initial question was should I water if there is still
Condensation. I found out that as long as there is condensation, there is water in the pot. But this is my new question. There is still some water droplets on the onside of my pot, but the roots are shriveling... Is this normal for a phal? Or does it need water ASAP, even though it has water droplets on the inside of the pot?

Thanks

What color are the roots visible through the clear plastic. If they are green - they are still good, when they become silvery-grey - time to water. This is how I go with phal watering and it works for me.

I agree with Orchideya about the root color - I'd also suggest a bamboo skewer, or wood type chopstick in the pot to gauge the moisture - sometimes in low humidity there may be no condensation in clear pots, but media is moist still

Both the above sound like good tips to me. If it was my Phal and I saw shriveled roots, I'd suspect over not under watering, (of course once again, that's knowing me). Unless the leaves start looking droopy or dry I wouldn't worry about some surface roots shriveling. Of course to be sure you can always depot and check the roots out that way without too much disturbance. Good luck.

All that has been said above could be true... If you can post a couple of photos of the roots and of the plant..please do.. I'm sure you will get more definite answers to help you. Look forward to seeing pics.
