I always repot my plants in clay pots from home depot. Less than $2 a pot is good for me

Looking at those pictures I would agree with both re-potting and the need for more ventilation.

It looks as though it's not drying well if it's still like that after a week. Staying wet that long is likely to cause rot as you have seen. I always aim to have then dry completely in a week, they can go a bit longer, but yours still looks newly watered in those last pictures.

If the medium is broken down (as looks possible in those pictures) then it will not get enough air flow. Extra ventilation in the pot will help, but getting it into a medium with more air spaces is also important.

Choice of medium depends on a lot of things. Your enviroment, your watering tendencies being two of those.

As I said above I aim for phals to dry in 1 week (2 at the outside but I think they start struggling as they get closer to 2 weeks. If your medium mix is drying to slowly it needs a new one with faster drying components (bark mainly) if it's drying too fast you want a new one with slower drying components (CHC, Moss).

N.B. Drying faster than 1 week is not a problem if you can water it often enough. A Phal drying in a day needs daily watering so if you can't water that often then you need slower drying components.

I would perhaps suggest a good quality orchid bark in your case as you have already had a problem with drying times.
