So here's a pic of my first mounted orchid in my first orchid tank!

It's Leptotes Bicolour. I put a thin layer of sphag and then the roots on top... not sure what to think about the root, it was potted in fine bark which had obviously been soaked by the vendor prior to being sent. Although the plant looks healthy when I un-potted the plant alot of roots had grey/brown soggy sheaths that were stuck to the media and just came away... They looked dead to me and aren't any active tips but I don't know Leptotes roots, maybe that's normal? Somehow I doubt it!

The temp in my tank is 23.8c in the day and 20c at night with humidity mid 70s to mid 80s, do I think this will be ok?

Thanks

Kim

Looks good to me, although I'm not an expert.

I have a leptotes unicolor which seems to like being mounted. Mine has hardly any moss at all, but I water daily.

leptope roots dont have much substance to them and dont like being moved around or being dried out. I myself plant them knee deep in moss to keep the roots moist all the time.

The mount looks fine Me just wonders if its going to get enough light to bloom for you in the terrarium. Mine sits in the full sun east window all morning then goes to the shelf under lights the rest of the day till 9 pm..I get LOTS of light. Had 13 blooms on mine in april

I recommend putting the moss on top of the roots, not under them.

Putting it under the roots encourages them to continue growing in the moss, rather than attaching to the mount.

Hello! Thanks for the kind remarks and Pro info

Ray and Squirrel if Leptoes like to stay moist, then moist she shall be I will remount and put the moss on the top instead of the bottom and hopefully that will help. With the fan in the tank it doesn't take long to dry out in there so the added protection will be good

I watered her last night Rosie and then seeing as she's been in a box 3days and (hopefully) doesn't know day from night anymore I ran the lights all night as I want the tank as a feature in a usually dark connecting room, plus the electric is cheaper (we are not all as sympathetic to the needs of the 'chids in our house vs the budget ) This morning I watered again... Hopefully with the moss on top I can get it down to once a day

Daethan, thanks I love this piece of wood I'm hoping I can find some micro-minis for the little nooks and crannies... but I promised only planning no more buying til the end of the month!

I would do cartwheels for just ONE bloom let alone 13 Squirrel! Do u drop ur hours of light or temps in the winter? What stimulates them to bloom?
