When I got this orchid, most of the p-bulbs were empty of leaves. However, I have noticed in the heat that several of the bulbs are turning yellow and dying. What is your opinion of the overall health of this orchid? Any guidance and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Might be grown too bright.

If you can get a closer shot that'd be great to see what else is going on.

Might be grown a little too bright, but I also think that the pseudobulbs are dying of old age.

The pseudobbulbs don't last forever. Because the pseudobulbs live a fairly long life, it may seem like it. I never paid attention to the time frame of how long each pseudobulb lasts on many of these Bulbos.

It's interesting you think too bright of light. It's outside and gets morning sun but that's it. Maybe some here and there until about noon, but otherwise it's shielded from any direct sun. Could this be why some of the leaves are purple as opposed to the green of the rest of the leaves - or could that just be because they are newer leaves?

Good to know that it's probably just the pbulbs time to go. I was hoping you would say that.

Also, would high heat (heat index between 100 to 115 every day for the past 3 weeks) have anything to do with this? I took my other bulbo in about 2 weeks ago because the p-bulbs were wilted looking and it was looking as though it was a bit sunburned. It has recovered nicely. Perhaps I should bring this one in as well until the heat reduces.

The leaves naturally have a darker shade of green on these guys. If the leaves are too light in color, chances are it's a little bit too bright.

Newer leaves tend to have the anthocyanin pigments. They will reduce with age.

Idk about the temperature. Imo, it's a little too warm, but if the plant is doing fine in a shadier location under the same high temperature range, then you're fine. If it's still not doing well, then find a spot that gets to be about 90 F - 100 F at most.
