Watering Phals and Dendrobiums? Male

Also, I'd like to add that sometimes when you repot you will see a few leaves drop or other symptoms while the plant gets acclimated to it's new home and media. This is normal and you should not be concerned about it. Just keep an eye on those roots and they should tell you everything you need to know. If they are turning brown and/or mushy, then you know something is wrong. That's why we use clear plastic pots when potting - so we can have a better idea of how wet the media is, look for condensation inside (shows moisture), and keep an eye on those roots.

Watering Phals and Dendrobiums?
Default Update on my dend

Update :

Good news! Since the bottom leaf fell off there has been no progression of more leaf shedding so thankfully it was just time for that leaf to fall

However the dend does seem to be sulking. The new leaf shoots that were there when I bought it are not growing. Are they supposed to be or is it sort of dormant while it has flowers in bloom?

Also as I was afraid of the moss is staying a little too wet for my liking although all roots look good. The bark mix was too dry for the tiny pot. Would it be ok to mix some bark in with the moss? I'd like to try s/h at some point in the future but I'd have to order the leca so that isn't an immediate thing I can try.

Section Phalaenanthe Dendrobiums actually do have a winter dormancy, but I doubt that yours is experiencing this during late summer.

I bought a bare root den last winter and immediately the leaves fell off of all the PB's but the most recent one. I potted it in moss in a tiny clay pot. I used masking tape to securely hold it in place as it didn't have a lot of good roots. By keeping a careful watch on it and watering only after it was dry, it seems to have come along nicely. It has a new growth that is now almost the size of the last mature growth and no more leaves ever fell off. The new growth has lots of healthy roots. It is still in the tiny clay pot in the moss. I think since it is clay, the moss dries out fast enough that it isn't a problem. someone else told me they have good luck this way, so that's why I potted it as I did.
