Default vanda spike

Hello,
I think I have a spike on my Vanda Roberts Delight 'Garnet Beauty' (top left growth on the picture).
I see there drops of clear sticky substance coming out. Is it bad?

Thank you.

orchideya - That is indeed a spike starting - the sugary dew that it is secreeting is normal in many orchids. Watch out for bugs, they will be attracted to the sugar.

YAY! That's a vanda spike! Mine is spiking too (first one ever!) It gets that sugary dew too, not a big deal. I wipe it off. Happy Growing!

Thanks all!
It is my first homegrown spike and I think it is first flowering for this orchid too. I bought it without blooms and there was no trace of an old spike.
How long until it blooms now?

Congrats. That sure is a spike coming. I have one that is spiking too. It also has the sugardew. It's nothing serious. It's just a good sign. Good growing.
It can take a while now before it blooms. My spikes are already 22 days old and not blooming yet.

Thank you WhiteRabbit! So glad it spiked. Proves that vandas can grow and bloom indoors in Canada and lets me continue with my vandas obsession.
