My father-in-law has a phal for a couple of years in his office and pours some water every now and then. Just that. And now that I saw it it has a full-grown keiki on it! Is it possible that too

I would agree. To much fussing must slow them down . This is true in my case at least.

I think sometimes we're lured into thinking of orchids as delicate little things which need a lot of fussing (I know that's certainly popular opinion here!). However, think of how they grow in the wild - they're certainly not pampered there! So, like any plant, once you have the environment suited, they'll just do what they do best, grow

I do fuss over them when watering. I inspect for dead leaves, bugs, etc. I do agree Jennyfleur. IF the conditions are correct, they'll florish (sp?).

I've noticed that to be the case not only with orchids, but pretty much all plants.
