I repotted my phals couple of days ago and I found that they are a bit loose in the pots although I stuffed them ( not squeezed them). Should I add more medium or is it ok? Some of the healthy roots are out of the medium. Do I leave them there?
Can you post some pics of what you've done? (i.e. when you say 'some of the healthy roots' are these aerials or pot roots?)
Sometimes, when I repot, they are a bit on the loose side (especially if I've gone up a pot size). However, once new roots start to take/ grow, they're fine. So, it might just depend on how many roots there are in the pot - less roots, more bark = loose vs. more roots, less bark = tighter.
If it's wobbling too much, you could put a couple of spike canes in to give some support while the new roots grow.
I tamp down media quite a bit - firmly tapping the pot on ground while holding the plant in place, and generally get plants feeling quite steady in the pot - but newly potted plants can be a bit shaky for a bit.
If the roots you mention (out of the pot), were previously in the pot, you may need to tamp down media, maybe adding some - and/or plant may be sitting too high - pix, if you can post some, are helpful
