Help! Flowers on my Orchid (Phal) are falling
Default Help! Flowers on my Orchid (Phal) are falling

Hi everyone. I have had my flower for a month now i believe. I water it ones a week it's planted in moss. Like you will see in the picture i have it on my kitchen window. It's that dark because its night right now.
One of the flowers just fell off right now i checked and the plant it's no dry. I am aware that it is part of the process for the flowers to dry and fall but it can also be that it is dying.
Since this is my first orchid i have no idea how it would look like if it were dying. My husband gave me this flower and i really wanna keep it alive. I wanna prove to him that i can do it. So just making sure that everything is okay

it looks like the natural progression of flowers fading....but i would take the plant out of the pot and check the roots....moss is a difficult medium to grow in, and tends to rot the roots....i suggest potting it in bark....gl

Well i am very glad and thank you. I actually bought moss to replace it with the moss that it has now. I was told to do it after the flowers have faded. It's in a pot but not directly planted to the pot but in this clear plastic. I can see most of the roots and they look really green and healthy. Question, when i re-pot should i do it directly in the pot and just throw away the plastic? Any good tips on re-potting? Thanks so much again and sorry for all the questions.

clear plastic pots are great - I love them for Phals especially, as you can judge when to water by the color of the roots - when roots turn silvery or white, then it's time to water! I do have mine set into clay or ceramic pots usually, tho it's not necessary

when you repot - trim away rotted or otherwise dead roots - when using moss, don't pack it in - packed moss just takes a very long time to dry - I use an overturned net pot or some styro (not biodegradable, nor the pink ones) packing pnuts in the center of the pot and root mass to help more even drying of the moss

gl!
