Bud - If you are impressed by Paph sanderianum checked out this Paphiopedilum Michael Koopowitz
(Paphiopedilum philippinense X Paphiopedilum sanderianum)

My Friend Frank Smith of Krull Smith Orchids took the Grand Champion Trophy at the last WOC (World Orchid Conference) in Miami with one. It will blow your mind.

Hi Bud, If you've been thinking about getting a paph, Michael Koopowitz is a good one to start with. It grows rather quickly, has wonderful blooms, and is rather forgiving in its culture requirements.

Bud, in my experience Paphs are way easier to grow than Phals. I have quite a few from different sections and they all do quite well for me (with the exception of henryanum). None of them care much about humidity, so I wouldn't worry about that too much. Just keep them well watered and fed, with adequate light and you will be surprised at how well they do for you.

Go for it!
