Default Paph and Phal Still Alive Despite All Odds

Hello!

Well, my paph. niveum is still alive, despite being a Nemo with a bad petal (giggle). She does seem to be leaning, however. Do these types of flowers like support? I could put a little stick in there if that would help?

The phal seems to be adjusting quite nicely to the repotting even though it's in flower. New buds are still opening and none have died yet (WHEW! Knocking on wood!) Here are some photos of the family with before/after of the phal. The phal is now leaning a big more than I would like, but I don't want to disturb it again by digging out that stick and straightening it up.

There's no absloute rules for staking. You'll have to determine how much pressure is on the 'chid itself. Certainly multi blooms could use support, many of them have long stems and you don't want them blowing in the wind - break, break, break. I have phals do this with out staking, you learn as you go

I'm glad you repotted your phal, it does look over potted in that sphag. Good move on your part
It's always nice when it all comes together, then you just get more orchids

Good growing!

Nice phal! I got my first paph today, and in my orchid book it says to use a split cane and attach a clip just below the flower, Judi
