Smile Miniature Phalaenopsis in Europe

Hi -

I'm new to the world of orchids but was curious as to why mini phalaenopsis are so popular especially in Europe. Is there something unique to orchids (mini's in particular) that attracts the attention/interest of Europeans (or flower lovers in general)? Thanks!

Bob

I think people just find them quite cute and charming.

Also you can fit a lot more into your growing space

I like growing mini or novelty phals.. They take up less space and are generally easy to care for. Many of them are fragrant while the large ones usually aren't. Some of them are sequential bloomers so they continue to bloom for many months. There are a few that are in bloom most of the year after they become mature plants. There's a wide variety of colors and patterns. I find them very rewarding.

P. I-Shin Salmon 'Joy' is very fragrant and has great colors.

Dtps. Purple Martin 'Champion' is in bloom for 8 months a year.

P. Orchid World 'Bonnie Vasquez' is just a beautiful flower.

It's been a few years but I think I got Purple Martin from Norman's Orchids (orchids.com). Big Leaf Orchids also has it.
