Ok, I'll do the cinnamon thing. I actually cauterized it with a lighter- not sure if it's hot enough, but I was only using the blue part of the flame, and I did it twice.
It's actually not quite SHADY shady, it's more semi-shaded. The area gets shade at different parts of the day; I give my Cymbidium and Cattleya afternoon/evening sun, but maybe they need more? At this point I've got REALLY high-sun requiring (and soil-drying) required succulents in the brightest and hottest spot- three Lithops, one Pleispilos (with a seed pod, for free, hooray!!), a Stenocactus, and an Astrophytum myriostigma all up there. But there is enough room for an orchid or two, if they need even more sun and heat than what I'm giving them. I'd just be concerned about the humidity at that point, really.
I suppose I should at least move the Dendrobium, because it's got a yellowish tinge along the edge of the biggest leaves (could also be a sign that it was slightly neglected before I got it.... I'm not even going to BEGIN on the problems with my Cattleya's roots and leaves on that subject).
Thoughts?
