Help with eppicatt and Catt orchids Female
Default Help with eppicatt and Catt orchids

I am new to eppicatt and catt orchids so bear with me but I bought both of these a little over two months ago at lowes and the both had what i thought to be a spike developing which both spikes have now grown huge but no flowers. They just look like different colorleaves to me which i thought were the sheaths but still nothing. I guess can someone explain are these spikes or just leaves and the process of these two orchids blooming. Both orchids are very healthy and are growing tons of new roots. Thanks so much . Thanks eyebabe. If they are just new leaves can someone tell me what to look for as far as blooming. Also the eppictt always has that sappy stuff on what I thought was a spike is that normal for new leaves to have it too? Thanks

Hello and welcome to the OB.
Your plants look nice and healthy. They both look like young plants to me. You may get flowers on the new growths but I would think positively on the next growths with good culture.
The sap comes on new growth; leaves and buds.
The correct name for your epicatt is: Catyclia Serena's Tinkerbell 'Paradise'.
The correct name for your catt is: Rhyncholaeliocattleya Seto Rainbow 'Paradise'.
Joann

these should spike from the top of the pbulb, from the leaf axis - may or may not get sheaths
