Tip of Phal stalk dried up??

Hey all! One of my Phals is doing something kind of unusual. It has been in spike for several months now, and it seems like it hasn't grown at all for at least 2 months. Finally, today I noticed that the tip of the spike seems to be turning brown, almost like it is drying up. The plant looks healthy otherwise-- over the past few weeks it has begun growing a new leaf and several new roots. I just don't know why the spike is acting so strangely. I would really like to see it bloom again, so any advice would be appreciated! Thanks!

Does the spike still have flowers on it?

It never got to the point where it had flowers. This happened before buds even began developing.

If the spike is drying up you probably won't be getting buds and it's probably best to just cut it off and wait untill next year.
