Elmer's glue
Has anyone ever used Elmer's glue to close up a fresh cut or open wound? I've always used it on other plants, just wondering if anyone has used it on orchids. If so, any adverse affects? I've tried a couple, no problems yet.

I haven't heard of that but I have heard of using beeswax to seal an injury. I would have been suggesting you try it on one...but you beat me to it!
You did put cinnamon on it first, right?

I'm not sure if elmers glue will dry on a moist cut very fast.
However I have heard of glue being used on cuts on bonsai trees.

I've heard of that, as well. When I rec'd an injured orchid last week, the grower did suggest cinnamon..

Hi Jasen
Cinnamon is magic
It's been used in medicinal purposes for thousands of years and it helps our 'chids heal when they've got a boo-boo.
When you have some time, read through this thread:
Cinnamon?
You know you're an orchid addict when you have to run out to the greenhouse for your cinnamon, Listerine and Alcohol

I've used cinnamon mixed in Elmer's glue, and the plant was fine. I got the idea here: First Rays' Home Remedies

I give a sprintz of Listerine (the original one, not minty ) to any chid that's not looking quite right. It's an antiseptic...I also wipe down the stems once I've removed the sheathing. Keeps them clean and healthy
