I got 2 new orchids today at the Central Pennsylvania Orchid show. My two orchids are Oncidium Twinkle 'Sunlight' and Howeara lava burst 'puanani'. I don't know too much about these so could you help me with their culture. From what I can see they are both healthy and the Oncidium is in a growth stage. The oncidium is in moss and the Howeara is in bark. I was thinking about mounting the Oncidium, but only if its roots rot easily.
Great chids to find and very easy growers. I give mine a bit more light than the phals but not as much as the catts. They will each bloom off of new growth and I water/fert weakly weekly. If it's really warm the lava burst will have pink flowers, kept a bit cooler the flowers will be red. I can't think of anything else, does this help?

I think with many orchids you would have to go disastrously wrong for a plant not to grow and flower. Although there are defined tolerances within species the edges can be somewhat blurred. Don't stress it too much. You'll easily make it grow and flower.
