Hi, Can You fill me in on what a GFCI switch is please? I am outgrowing my giant plastic Grow bottles & am hoping to persuade the other half to help me build a vivarium

GFCI = ground fault circuit interrupters. A GFCI switch will switch off if it gets wet, thus preventing an electrical injury. These switches are the ones used in your bathroom (or should be used). Those who have aquariums and vivariums use them for safety reasons.

In the states, we have some electrical extension cords that have GFCI's on them as well. They are a bit expensive and not the easiest to find, but they work when you cannot use an actual GFCI switch in the light plate. Someone recently commented though that there is a number we should be concerned about because it is how fast the system will shut itself off. Look to the forum section on Terrarium's, and I believe it was in my posting about my first terrarium build. It should still be on the first page of threads.
