the nub on the victoria-reginae? I'm not certain - but I do believe it looks like some buds taking shape!
Nice! I still don't know what my nub on the Victoria-Reginae is yet. It did grow a bit though.

I sit by my orchids every day when I come home from work and just watch them, hoping for something... willing the spike to grow, hoping for my new orchids to adjust well. I have no idea HOW I missed this! While I'm lifting a giant leaf to peek at my tiny nub, there was another nub out in the open, 90 degrees to my left. I'm guessing this is a root, since it appears to be pointing down.

As if that wasn't shocking enough, it sprouted a leaf on top! I looked back at the original photo I posted and there is a small inkling of a leaf, but I didn't even know what it was when I first saw it. That's quite a lot of growth in 3 days, considering that it's been cloudy, raining and cold for all 3 days.

Here's an update of my flower spike. It's gotten a little longer but not much. Then again, some growth is always better than none.

I think the new nub is a root from the shape. All looks good though!

Hmm... I looked at it again and it's not pointing down, it's pointing across, is this still a root because it's pointy?

I found some more mystery nubs! This one (I've named it "Mystery Nub #3") is right next to an old spike. It's bigger than the other new nub (that's a flower spike) and closer in size to the root. Can roots grow where spikes would grow? What is this - root, keiki? Is the old spike in the way of its growth?

I've named this "Mystery Nub #4" and it's next to the 2nd former spike I had. It's the same size as the new flower spike, so I guess this means I have 2 flower spikes now!

Lastly, a new root!

I think the new ones are all roots from the shape of them (I have ones pointing up, right up above the leaves on one plant )

The original one is a spike though.
