Smile Green Stems (stalks) - do I trim?

This is my first orchid. My blooms lasted about four weeks. All of the stems (stalks) are still green. My friend's turned brown and she cut hers off. It has been about two months and no new blooms. I do have 2 or 3 new leaves though. I repotted immediately in orchid potting soil when the last bloom fell off.

It looks very healthy.

If the stem/stalk you are referring to is the flower stem, don't cut it just yet. Sometimes the flower stem will produce a keiki. I don't typically cut mine until they turn brown.

Amanda, I finally saw your message. Thanks for your prompt reply to my question. I am very excited about learning in the group.

How often do orchids bloom? It has been about 4 months since it bloomed.

It really depends on a number of things. Light, humidity, temperature, culture.
Mine bloom whenever they want, which seems to be never! Some bloom in the Summer, some the Fall, some the Winter, and some in the Spring. Most only bloom once a year. Although I do have a Paphiopedilum that bloomed 2-3 times in one year. Then I have some that I have had for 2 years and nothing.
Your plant will probably focus on growing new leaves and roots, since it has finished blooming.

It's good that you repotted. I have waited to re-pot some and have been sorely disappointed. My philosophy is to see what's going on before I get comfortable.
