Hi,

Went orchid shopping today and bought 4 chids, ALL scented ones!!! Photos uploaded.

1) Phal. bellina
2) Phal. violacea
3) Brassavola Little Stars
4) Vasco. Janice Allison



Reason for this post is that I was curious about the parents of the Vasco. From the web, it's said to be from Ascda Phairots Sand x Rhyncostylis Coelestis (scent prob from this) parent. But I could not find out more about Ascda Phairots Sand. No pic, no parentage for this.

1) Anyone has a pic of Ascda Phairots Sands?
2) What is the parentage of Ascda Phairots Sands?

Any assistance will be much appreciated.

interesting - a google search gets hits for Ascda Phairots Sands (as a parent to other hybrids), but search on RHS website says there are no matches ...

Ascocenda Medasand as seed parent
and
Ascocenda Phairot as pollen

Ascda. Phairots Sand is; Ascda Meda Arnold x Ascda. Phairot.
Meda Arnolds are ususally Red shades of color and Ascda Phairot is V. Lenavat x Ascda Medasand. Again in the red/pink shades.
Can't find a pic of Phairot Sand but the others come up ok.

I don't know where you bought those but they all look like large, healthy orchids. Vascostylis is becoming one of my favorite orchids. I have two now and will definately buy Janice Allison if I can find one. Vasco. blooms more often than any other orchid I've seen. One of mine has been in bloom constantly since I bought it six months ago. I think you'll like it. Good luck.

I still haven't got my vasco, but I'm not giving up. They are so hard to get here! I hope it looks as good as yours does, when I finally find that red vasco!
