Default spike cut new growth

again orchid boarders I have a ? What is the most amount of growth that you have had from a spike cutting? Was it a keiki or did you get it to bloom? This is mine since mid feb. I have used nothing but sugar water and clipped the end once in a while. It started as 2 old blooms at the end of the spike, which quickly fell. Love to hear if anyone has done this and if how far did it go???

Yes, I'd like to know more about it, too. In fact, could you tell us about sugar water, please? I tried to keep cut spikes alive in the past, but didn't get anything out of it.

Ok so, I've never seen this before, but it's cool. Let me tell you though that the sugar water isn't what's doing it because table sugar isn't in a molecular form that plants can take up, so it's really just kinda there. That being said, plants store the sugar they produce (via photosynthesis) in every cell, so chances are it's using up it's reserves and may have enough to bloom, but you just can't be sure. I'd actually say give it regular water and keep it out of the sun and you may just get some blooms. Good luck!

Thanks for the replies yes it is table sugar 1/2 tbs when i change the water in a large glass. I have 4 spent spikes and they all are growing new buds from nodes. I saw a post where someone had a keiki growing but they were using kln or something. I'll keep you posted )
