Question grammatophyllum leopard?

Hello
I just purchased and orchid yesterday. Tag reads grammatophyllum leopard. I have been doing some research and I think I am reading that she blooms every 5-10 years. I just can't believe it.... My tag dose not say scriptum so I am hoping that this is not the same. And I will have more frequent blooming. I can not find much info for the leopard type. I am not sure if this is a hybrid or species. It is in a 1 gallon pot and has 6 growths standing at 4 1/2 feet tall. Two spikes and loads of flowers for the eyes xoxoxo I just love the light green flower and the contrast of the spots. I am really hoping I do not have to wait 5 plus years to see her flower again. I have a hard enough time with waiting for one year lol..lol if anyone has some secrets they can share with me. So I can keep her beautiful it would be very helpful. I was told medium light and water twice a week.thanks for reading sky

I raise hundreds of these and they will bloom almost every year. The bad news is that they need high light and will not flower indoors.

The can take almost full sun and I grow them like Vanda.

The are big eaters and feed them heavily. I prefer a tablespoon of slow release pellets every three months.

It is not Gram. scriptum as the leopard pattern is too large. It is scriptum x martae (martae is chocolate brown) that is being shipped from Hawaii. It is not a registered cross. Some come with this leopard pattern and some look like its other parent chocolate brown.

Another clue is the extra large pseudobulbs which even in your photo is much larger than normal. I have had pseudo bulbs up to 12 inches before the leaf starts.

They grow very fast. I usually re-pot mine in 12 inch wooden baskets and they will fill the basket in one summer. When over potting like this use lots of charcoal with the bark or better use fiber board pieces 1-2 inches. Over potting occasionally loses one flowering season but a 12 inch basket can produce 4-12 flower sprays.

They lose leaves fast in the cold. Here is a full tutorial on their care.

mine are growing with the Vanda and getting watered every day. You can give more water when using baskets as they dry fast. You also can give more water when using large amounts of charcoal as charcoal does not retain water.

It has been so hot in Florida I am currently watering everything 1-2 times a day.

thanks for the help!!!! i was kinda lost on the watering schedule. mine is potted and i am thinking every other day since i have it on my east window facing porch. do you think i should re pot her? she is in a plastic pot slipped inside the decorative one with two holes in the decorative pot for drainage. i was thinking of re-potting after it is done blooming. do you think it would do good in full sun in the east side of the house? i just am not sure of this Florida summer heat coming, but i sure want her to bloom again she is pretty. so i don't want lighting to be an issue. do you know how sensitive the leafs are to sun? sorry about the 20?s thanks for all you help! sky xoxoxo
