Default Removing rotten roots

I need some advice on removing the rotten roots. Here are the pictures of the three.

I have been going through the "The Phal abuse ends here" sticky. I just need a little more help to. Thank you in advance for all the help that has been given.

The easiest way is to remove any roots that are squishy. After I cut out the dead roots, I spray the remaining roots with regular brown Listerine and let them dry a bit.
When you repot, use the smallest pot the roots will fit in. This will allow the media to dry and keep the roots from being too wet.

Joann, do you need to rinse the Listerine off, or just leave it as is after it has dried? We can't get many anti-fungals like Physan in Canada, so I bought some of the brown Listerine.

No I don't rinse it off, just let it air dry and repot.

I see maybe two or three roots that look healthy. They are at the top. The rest look rotten/rotting. Chop them off to the base. You can make sure they are rotting if they give way and ooze out water when you press them between your fingers. Or if they slide off the central portion of the root which looks like a thread. Also if they look brown and hollow, shriveled. Apply cinnamon or sulfur if you have it to the cut wounds.

Take a picture of the roots after you have done the job. The way you repot it will depend heavily on how many/condition of the surviving roots.
