How about Superthrive? - Orchid Board

Hello,
I have just asked on another thread if it would be good for me to use osmocote on my recovering Phal which I have just repotted, and it was kind of unanimous that I shouldn't.
But how about Superthrive? I have read on more than one place that it's good for damaged roots. I can get some from ebay ($15 for 2oz including shipping) and it takes a little more than two weeks to arrive. Is it worth the trouble?

There are a number of root stimulating products available. Certainly, if your plant is in major trouble, these products may not be the answer. However, if you want to try some, look locally for some similar types of products like Hormex, KLN, Essential Plus or any product that contains the active ingredient in the respective product: 1-Napthaleneacetic Acid (NAA) and/or 3-Indolebutyric Acid and Vitamin B-1

Some growers use Superthrive as a suppliment to their fertilizer. I'm not sure if it's considered a root stimulator. My favorite suppliment for stimulating roots are seaweed products. My favorite is Maxicrop Liquid Seaweed. But your orchid should do fine with just normal water and fertilizer. Suppliments are not really necessary.

I bought some Superthrive when I ran out of KLN. For me the Superthrive was a waist of money but many people have had been happy with it.

I also prefer KLN. That said lots of people like Superthrive. Just be careful not to overdo it. I've heard too much of it can cause flowers to be deformed.

I like K-L-N over SuperThricve, and am starting to lean toward Hormex liquid, as the root-growth stimulants are in higher concentration - more "bang" for the buck.

I still don't see what the big hype over Superthrive is. I used it on my plants, but they didn't seem to be growing any faster or better because of it. May try one of the other products sometime.

Thank you for the answers. I guess I'll just keep my Phal as it is for now, then. When I get more of them I may try some of these and compare.

I used it every week, five drops per gallon, its works for me very good, I used with the Cal-Mag or 20-20-20
