Fused Cym Leaves? Female
Default Fused Cym Leaves?

My mom has a HUGE cymbidium that is sending up new growth, and when I got here for a visit I noticed that the two leaves in the middle of the biggest bulb are fused. Should I cut these off? One side of them will separate easily, but I didn't try to do much as I was afraid of doing more harm than good.

I'm planning on repotting it for her tomorrow (it's in an 8" plastic pot, the medium is very old and degraded, and it's ready for a bigger pot with the new bulbs is has). I'm really hoping for no surprises! I have heard that repotting cym's is an experience.

Not sure how these leaves are fused, a pic helps.

I generally wouldn't recommend removing leaves if I could help it.

If you're talking about making an incision to separate the leaves, I don't see why not. If you're up to it, go for it.
