sick phals coming back

When I first started I bought some phals with no roots at all. You know how it is, blooms and all. Well I have learned since and do not buy without root inspection. But, these old ones are a mess, with wilted leaves and no roots to speak of at all. I did not want to do the spag and bag thing so potted them in med orchiata. Had to put stakes in to hold them in the pots. Well, I watered when I did the healthy plants. However I misted the leaves every single day. Also misted the top of the media. Now every single one has new roots growing. There are 4 of them and I considered heaving them, but just wanted to try this. So far so good. two even have a new leaf growing from the tops.

Congrats! I have yet to have success with a rootless phal. It is a good skill to cultivate. Continued luck to you with your resuscitation

Congrats to you. I have had some rootless phals as well. I have had some luck in saving them by putting the plants in some type of open container with damp shredded newspaper at the bottom. I figured if they are naturally airborne plants then I don't need to use bark, moss or a place them in a bag. I watered them with warm tap water every so often and placed them in the container. The humidity in the paper works great.

Great! I've never had such luck with rootless phals, so I buy more. :-)
