My wife bought me this plant last week, it only has one flower in bloom but lots of buds, the flower was fully open and fine, but today it has kind of shriveled.
Yesterday I had the warm mist humidifier on full blast (I'm just experimenting), and it's really close to the plant (see picture), do you think this might have caused it?
It might have, but it could also just be from the change in environments of the store to the home. BTW, there appears to be another bud on the 3rd picture that won't make it probably. It's a different color than the rest.
It's really not uncommon for new phal's to come home and have bud blast once in a while. While phal's tend to be more reliable to not have bud drop, it does happen. It's even more likely if you should change mediums on it while in bloom.
Somewhere there is a thread about the common questions asked for phal care. I don't remember the name of it, but you might want to search it out and read through it. It has a lot of valuable information in it you might find useful.
You're right about that bud, if you take a look at the first picture there is one on the table. The rest look fine though.
The petals on the other Phal don't look fully open either, they're not wilted or anything like that and two buds have bloomed nicely. It's just that none of the flowers have opened wide up, it's almost like they're holding back. Maybe it's just meant to look like that.
I don't think it's peloricism. I think this is just an inferior bloom cycle. The rest of the buds are highly irregular looking. There are lots of kinks, bulges, and wrinkles on them. The cause may have been improper care under the seller(s), not anything you've done. Another possible cause may have been that it is a cloning side effect, idk.
