Cymbidium care question Female
Default Cymbidium care question

I have a Cymbidium Rosanna and I have a few basic care questions. I was told that the plant should flower from fall to spring. During that time I am only to water sparingly. When the flowers drop in the spring, and after there's no danger of frost, I am to put the plant outside in a lightly shaded area and leave it until fall. During that time, I should water once a week. My questions are: 1. Does that sound right? 2. When the flowers drop, do I cut back the stem or just leave it? Any help is GREATLY appreciated!!!!! (By the way, I live in South Jersey so summers are VERY hot and humid, average 80-90º)

Cymbidium hybrids generally don't flower from fall through spring. They generally flower from late winter through mid-spring.

High humidity is fine.

Heat will not affect it much. It gets over 100 F here as well. If it's hot, there should ideally be a significant temperature drop between day and night (about 30 degrees F drop from day to night).

I usually leave the spike on until they dry up. They dry up fairly quickly after the flowers drop anyways.

Grow in very bright indirect sun - almost full sun, or full morning and late afternoon sun.

Let dry between waterings.
