Default Reusing Sphagnum Moss

Hi Everyone! Quick question....I hydrated a bunch of sphagnum moss about a week or two ago, I have used most of it, my question is, is it still safe to use since it has been soaking in water and sitting out in the hot sun pretty much the last week or two? I know I should have let it dried out, but I never know when I will need it and I have alway been told to soak it overnight, which I don't like waiting for...lol. Should I sterylize it some how or is it okay to use, it kinda smells funky....lol. Thanks!

Should be OK. Just squeeze the water out of it and put in basement (or a florr that is safe to get wet) and spread it out to dry.

cool, well can I still use it now that it is still wet even though it has been soaking for a week or so? I just thought maybe bacteria would have grown in it by now...lol.

Won't putting it the microwave or the dishwasher kill any bacteria that might be floating around on it?
Well maybe not the dishwasher
That's for sponges!!!

Yes you are correct. But isn't that overkill? Don't think we need to swat a fly with a bazooka
