MYSTIC BLUE PHAL.... Female
Question MYSTIC BLUE PHAL....

I saw what was called a "Mystic Blue" phal today at meijer grocery store. I have never seen a bright blue orchid like this one. They were pretty expensive for a phal, so I did not get one but I was just wondering how they get the deep blue color to them. The stems looked kinda blue too, like they dyed the water they gave to the plant. They were gorgeous, but too expensive and I just bought 3 new orchids this weekend

They're injected with dye Look at the base of the spike if you get another look at one.

Ya, I figured they are fed with dye or injected. That's a shame, I wish they were natural, cuz MAN they were sure a pretty blue.

Bummer - I bought one. They were expensive, but I could not resist. Do you think the dye will wear off over time?

These monstrosities are only suited for the compost heap.

Almost as bad as the practice of dye injection to alter or add color to tropical fish.
