Orchid spike cut back!
I was reading in an orchid book that you are supposed to cut back the stem after the plant is done flowering, but unfortunately I misread... I cut the stem pretty much off opposed to just past the node. Will this affect the plant in anway, will it flower again?

Welcome to the board. Since it's a Phal, there's no mandatory reason to rebloom Phals. It's just that many of them like to rebloom. In fact lots of folks here cut the spike off after bloom (I just did that with mine) to encourage lots of leave growth. You're OK with this one.

I am 100% with Ross. Cut off the spike completely and allow the plant to cycle into leaf growth.
Welcome to the OB zazz! Where in Canada are you located?

I don't touch the spikes until they turn brown. I've found that many of my phals continue to grow vigorously even while in flower. Some don't and won't do a thing until the spike is gone. You could have done either one in my opinion. The only I have trouble with is cutting down to a node, the spike always dies for me when I do that.

While the majority of them will flower a second time. The majority of those it will be with fewer flowers.
I like to give it some extra energy for next year, so "off with 'er head".
