Wye, I see you are in Ottawa. Have you ever shopped at Cloud's Orchids or checked their website? They are near Niagara Falls I believe. Here is a link to their web site: Cloud's Orchids They sell good quality plants and have cultural info on the web site for a number of different orchids. They also sell supplies, but don't ship the supplies due to high cost of shipping. If you are close enough or do the odd road trip, you could check them out. I believe they have limited hours for retail.

Thanks Silken,
A road trip there would have to be planned ahead of time with a few days to spare, but I will go to the site and see. My brother lives in TO and might be able to drive down to get supplies if I beg "PLEEAASE!"

That's how it works with my sister in Calgary! We don't have much for orchids or supplies on the prairies. Good luck with your plant.

Pretty amazing though to think that in the city of Ottawa it would be difficult to find supplies for orchids. I did find a place on the Quebec side about 2 hours away with a large orchid nursery and other orchid supplies. I looked at some of your pictures. Are those all your orchids? Beautiful. Thanks for your help.

Those are some of my orchids, thanks. I love to take their portraits as my main hobby other than orchids is photography.

If you don't already belong to the Ottawa Orchid Society you might want to check it out. I don't know about other societies but ours has a supply sale table where members can buy orchid supplies that are usually not found here. The members in charge (myself and another person) order sphagnum moss, bark, MSU fertilizer and many other things in large quantities at fairly good prices. Then we bag or bottle it into small portions and sell them to our members who get them for a good price since we are a non-profit organization. Also we do bulk orchid orders out of country and within making it possible to get much more variety than we can find locally. There's also a wealth of knowledge to be found there.

Hi Silken
I have been wanting to join our Orchid society who meet every third Sunday, but for the longest time, I worked every Sunday they met. I will get in touch with them again, and hope my shifts don't line up to their meetings as much this year. Every day, I walk by my orchids and hope to see a sign of possible flowers.

I hear ya! Work gets in the way of things! And I too hover over my plants looking for any sign of progress. It's almost sick!

Bear in mind that once you give the plant more water, the wrinkled leaves won't straighten out, but the new leaves coming in should be okay.

Oh wow! Now I have another reason to go to Niagara falls! My kids are begging me to go to Great wolf lodge. I might actually cave in and take them.
I should also point out that they have a botanical garden (?) It's indoors, and they had some beautiful orchids. I was looking to speak to anyone who works there, but no luck. So I enjoyed them for as long as my family allowed me, and hope to return soon.
