Hi all...so I purchased a Paphiopedilum (ladyslipper) today because I just thought it was too cool! One issue, I never grew one of these.

Currently, i have 6 Phals that are all doing well.

My question are:

1. Does there need to be a really large temp drop at night for these to survive...the inside of my home stays pretty warm! I don't think the temp in my home drop 10 degrees at night..

2. It seems from what i am reading that you can not let the roots dry out on these guys...

Any beginner tips would be helpful...sorry I probably should be searching from them! ha!

This is the first orchid I purchased that is not a Phal ...so I just want to be sure I know how to take care of it!

Thanks,
jared

Hi Jared. If you can grow and bloom Phals well you shouldn't have any trouble with Paphs. They do like to stay evenly moist and really don't like to dry out between waterings. Everything else is about the same. My Paphs and Phals are growing side by side, same conditions.

Thanks Terri.... I was just concerned because I read that they need a drop in temps at night. My Phals do really well in my Eastern facing window with filtered light, I will place the Paph right next to it and see how it does. Thanks for your input!

Jared
