Epidendrum orchid keiki Male
Default Epidendrum orchid keiki

Hello I posted about a month ago concerning some epidendrum radican keikis that i was given. I planted them just over a month ago and there hasnt been any new growth yet. They feel firm in the orchid mix like there might be root growth. This seems promising. I guess my question is should there be some new growth appearing at this time or does the kieki focus on rooting before putting out new growth? Any answers appreciated.

If you are only a month in and you have good root growth then you are going strong! That's a great sign. Your plants growth has probably been stalled a little because you have cutoff its main source of water and nutrients: its mother plant. Soon it will be taking enough resources in to fuel its own growth.

Spring will usually jump start the new growth on my plants.

Dont worry about it. In no time you will start seeing them produce new growth, these orchids grow like weeds. I water mine everyday with my vandas. Good luck.

I agree with wevans. Its been my experience that most Epidendrum's are pretty tough plants. AL
