I have a very large catt that I got in the fall. When it was finished blooming I repotted in the med. orchiata. It seems to be doing well as it has 6 new roots coming and looks like a new pbulb, very small. but the p bulbs have deep lines and from the photos of others they are plumper. It is in a clay pot maybe an inch bigger then the original. I hate to take it out and this point to check roots. I do have two bamboo sticks that I check before I water. Do some catts have these deeper lines? Wish I could post a photo but do not have camera.

Don't worry. It sounds like it's doing fine. Over the winter cattleyas rest and psuedobulbs get dehydrated and wrinkled. I recently found out that you judge the plant by the lead psuedobulb. If the lead psuedobulb is plump don't worry about the psuedobulbs in the rear getting wrinkled. Now that the plant is growing new roots and leads you can increase the watering a little but remember to let cattleys dry completely between waterings. Really drench the plant when you do water and then let it dry completely. Good luck.

Oh thank you. I feel better. And yes the older ones are not as plump as the new one that is putting out roots.

Some of the Catt species, and therefore hybrids, will grow a p'bulb, and then over the winter, it will get permanently wrinkled, with only the newest grown bulb looking firm.
