At this point, I disagree with you. I am currently in contact with a customer service agent from Silver Vase Orchids to identify 4 of their orchids which I just purchased from a nearby Kroger grocery store. I have to admit that their product on sale for $9.99 is a great price for a healthy plant compared to whatever you purchase at Lowes. Not only is the plant in bloom, the root system can be seen throughout the pot and medium.

It is something which is always worth a try, but I think you are lucky that Silver Vase Orchids are interested in the names of their orchids.

I have to say in my experience as well many of them are not and don't seem to even have the records. In one case I contacted the nursary on the lable and they said hadn't even sold oncidium alliance (which is what it was) for the last 5 years... I sent them a scan of the label and they said yes it was their label but they had no records of it.

The customer service rep had been prompt in answering my e-mail as well as answering any questions. I'm still waiting for the information regarding the identification of the plants themselves. We'll see who's right because there were two names on the pots which don't match what's in their catalog. Interesting huh?
