This orchid has literally done NOTHING for the last year. It looks almost exactly how it did when I got it. It is the top piece with 2 keikis attached from the mother plant that has been rooted and has done well. Except that lately there is something growing from it. Could these be spikes or are they keikis off the keikis?

They look to me like spikes, though I think this species can grow roots from the base of the inflorescence so they might end up kind of keiki-ish too... Nice job, keep us posted on how the blooming progresses!

That's a spike. This species has a dormancy period, that's probably why it looks like it hasn't done diddly.

Thanks, Phillip. I am kind of surprised as these are keikis that are still attached to the top piece of the parent plant. I have been waiting for them to do some growing so that I could get them planted on their own. Guess I will leave them where they are.

They do look like spikes. Let me know, as I do have this plant as well. Mine is mounted on a cedar shake. It has a new growth that is nearly done growing. I have to do more reading on them as I do want to see this one flower for myself.

I thought I should include a pic of the whole plant.

This was the first orchid I bought after the "beginner phals" It was my 3rd orchid ever so I am VERY happy that I have done right by it.
